...a 14 foot Lugsail Dinghy designed & built in 1987 by Richard Pierce and sailed here by the Pierce Family at the 2008 Toberonochy Boat Muster, Luing, Scotland after 'official' sailing was abandoned... the breeze was gusting 30kts according to Commander of the Fleet Brice Avery. The sail is reefed from 120sqft to 80....

Sciurus is well travelled... She has sailed the 70 miles overnight from Craobh Haven to Fort William to the start of the Great Glen Raid (which took another week to reach Fort Rose, another 120 miles). She travelled to Southern Sweden for the Blekinge Raid atop a VW Transporter van! She regularly appears at traditional/wooden boat gatherings, and always performs well among significantly larger boats.

On the strength of this film (thanks to John Widdaker!) Richard is confident to offer the design to other builders, along with his 18'6 design 'Scarlet' and 12'6 'Beachnut', both of which have proved themselves over the years. 01852 314 1119 (UK)
