Going Home is a song by Ulali, a group of three Native American women Pura Fé, Soni, and Jennifer. With a distinct blend of traditional roots and contemporary styles, Ulali challenges the expectations of Native Musics while engaging their Tuscarora, Mayan, Apache, and Yaquí roots. For Talisman, the song is a powerful mixture of the Native and African American cultures, and speaks to the intersecting stories of the blues and native musics that intermingled. In particular, the song speaks to the Trail of Tears, in which Cherokee were forcibly removed by government edict, while African slaves were imported to take their place on southern plantations.
