This to help you change the front faceplate of you Nokia E71.
I also talk near the end about changing the backplate, it is much trickier and I would recommend getting one of your nerdy friends to do it for you.

****WHEN I TALK ABOUT THE BACK IN THE VIDEO I MEAN THE BACK SCREWS***** but near the end i talk about changing the backplate.

wow over 1000 views, thanks peeps. keep it up, my other E71 vids should help you too.

  • check the antenna connection. down the bottom of the phone. it is around were the microphone hole is. IF you have knocked or broken the gold prong off you could be in a spot of trouble. Mine did break off, but a thin layer or water based super glue will be able to fix it.

  • thanks for this, I have an e63.. is it the same process? can you change the middle bit which you can see from the sides?

  • @losecontrol08 I have never owned or really played with a Nokia E63, however i think the process of changing the front or backplate wouldn't be to different. As for the middle bit, i believe you mean the backplate as there are really only 3 main parts to the outer casing of these similar phones, there is the front and backplate and the battery cover. To answer your question, yes you can. You will need to buy a new set off eBay or elsewhere. Quickly searched and found white.

  • Hi! Thanks for the great " How-to video!"

I would like to change out the faceplate of my E71 but the screws seem stuck (all but 1). Maybe they glued it (as it appears by the one screw I actually got it)- or there isn't enough of a screw head on the screw and my T4 & T5 -I don't know.

Any sugguestion to getting it loose? My screen is scratched up from being out at the barn and I have the replacement kit to change it out.

    Thanks so Much!

    Sincerely,

    Melody

You could try to hold the phone together really tight while trying to get the screw out so it can allow the thread of the screw to be able to move. Also try turning the screw the other way first before trying to get it out.

Please do not try an unscrew it if you feel you are going to let the screw get burred. If that happens it is REALLY hard to get it out.

This video allows you to try and do it yourself, however if you cant or dont have the confidence let Nokia do it.

  • Thanks for the great video, I was surprised how easy it was after watching you. However am wondering if you have any advice about fuzzy calls because my phone was clear for making/receiving calls, but after changing my keypad its fuzzy and i'm not sure if I touched something I sholdn't have. Any advice or is this someone that should be totally unrelated?

  • yo!

thanks for the tutorial, it was very helpful. Please post a video regarding how to change the keypad strip of e71. I want to change the keypad strip of my phone.

  • @magsanodotcom I bought it from ebay, i cant give you a link as the seller doesn't sell phones cases anymore. However I am sure if you just search you will find what you are looking for.

  • Thanks dude, u helped me a lot with my phone!!
