@HARApad Impressive. Is the saturation point of your material also higher than that of mu-metal?

@SamPabloKuper That is correct. After years of searching we have indeed found a material with much higher permeability than mu-metal. That's why we're able to offer a product with nearly 100% reduction in the magnetic field.

@SamPabloKuper And to answer your question about mu-metal, that is not the material we use. We had tested a myriad of materials and found something much better. That is why our newest product blocks almost 100% of the aforementioned ELF radiation, as opposed to the 80% attenuation of our earlier product.
Certainly you can understand that the exact material we use is a highly-guarded trade secret and that we cannot share exactly what it is. We are more than happy to answer questions though.

@SamPabloKuper Great questions. From our experience, you might be surprised at how little shielding is incorporated into a laptop. They certainly DO shield from electromagnetic interference (EMI), which is not quite the same as electromagnetic radiation (EMR). EMR causes EMI, but they are different and must be treated differently. We have done extensive testing in this area and are more than happy to share results. In fact, we do publish some test results on our website at harapad.com

@HARApad So the HARApad only provides shielding from low frequency magnetic fields? That makes a bit more sense, since the conductive shielding built into most laptops as standard ought to be effective at attenuating all other electric field and magnetic field components produced by those laptops.
Assuming that's the case, the HARApad is presumably just an encapsulated slab of mu-metal. Is that correct?

@SamPabloKuper The range of frequencies the HARApad protects against are in the ELF range of the spectrum (3-300Hz). Our testing simulates use of a laptop on the lap, so measurement occurs with the tri-axial Gaussmeter in contact with the computer. The 3-dimensional resultant vector is the reduction we report, with the X-axis typically being the largest contributor to that. Additionally, we find 5-8 inches a typical safe zone from the emission of a computer, with 1-3 mG registering as "safe."

Is a graph of attenuation vs frequency available, for specified distances and angles? If so, please can you provide a link to it, and to an account of the measurement methodology? If not, how can you be sure your marketing claims are not false?
