Kevin and Linda Fentiman recall their memories of their son Andrew as a child. 2 years ago the Rifleman was killed by small arms fire while serving with 7 Rifles, attached to the 3 Rifles Battle Group, in Sangin. Kevin turned to Cruse Bereavement Care for support. For nearly a year he had visits from a counsellor from the charity, which works with Forces Families that have lost a loved one. Linda Wilson found equally invaluable support from the Army Widows Association, but not until many years after her husband Lance Corporal Steven Wilson was killed by an IRA bomb in 1989. It was the injury of her son, Lance Corporal Matthew Wilson in Afghanistan in June 2009, that led to her finding out about the AWA. Both charities are among 26 that will benefit from the Charitable Gift Fund set up by Prince William and Kate Middleton, in place of receiving wedding gifts.
