Chomsky makes some excellent points as usual but he protects his professional position and reputation (possibly even his own safety and that of his family) by oversimplifying the second scenario which he discusses, it is just not as simple as the United States government "planning and implementing" the attacks.The attacks could have been enacted and "managed" by many interested parties.Besides, he knows quite well that the US government is not some benevolent and monolithic entity. Not enough!

It was about oil, but not to steal oil as all these morons tell us. We still get the majority of our oil from Canada, Mexico, and Venezuela.

Iraq will become a strong ally just like Japan and Germany.
