The song was written by Randy Stonehill who is from Stockton, California, and has red hair. Where do you get the Caribbean or African American origin?
However, yeah, it was pretty bad.

this year my 7th and 8th grade choir sang this song for contest and we did WAY bettter than this and we're in 7TH and 8TH GRADE!!!!!! damn

You gotta' hand it to them for the naturality of the singing. I've heard several of the high-performance choir productions of this song, and these people pretty much own it, (...for all their casual graces.)

no ofense, but this is an african spiritual, this has no soul, and obviously judging by the coments, the commentors have all right to say what they said. it was tone def. it had no soul, you looked like you were bored. And if u could keep on tempo maybe you wouldn't have to have some person messing up the song with drumsticks?? thats just my professional input. but please, don't sing that song. like ever, unles you have a completely new choir.
