and does this soft ware require external editing devices and does it matter what type of digital camcorder

I'm terribly interested in how you were able to merge the two shots at the beginning seamlessly. You talk about how the camera movement is problematic in matching the two shots, but you didn't say how you resolved it. I'd greatly appreciate it.
