Dhruv also participated in a Chilean tender for eight to ten 5.5 tonne, twin engined new generation helicopter, but lost to the Bell Helicopters Bell 412 amid allegations of arm-twisting by the US Government.The evaluation included flights at high altitudes, hot and desert conditions, ship deck landing, search and rescue at 12,500 feet (3,800 m) MSL at a temperature of 2°C as well as long distance ferry flights, clocking 107 flying hours.And DHRUV passed all these tests easily as they have already be in use by indian army, navy, and many countries in different enviroment.

WISH THEY HAD MADE IT AIR PRESSURE TIP JET HELICOPTER THEN THE CONVENTIONAL ONE THOUGH. WUD AVE MADE MORE SENSE FOR A COUNTRY LIKE INDIA WHICH LOVES THINGS DAT NATURALLY WORK AT EXTREMLY LOW COSTS AND HAVE A HIGH RELIABILITY WID SIMPLE MECHANISMS.. I m indian.....i m proud of our achievements - LCA and LCH......however we must emphasize on quality control a lot more. Ecuador crash has been making negative publicity. All their news websites are terming "Indian products" as "unreliable" which needs to be erased..They need to be reminded that despite pilot error the pilots survived the crash which satisfy QC. However more emphasis for QC must be placed on both the main and the tail rotors nevertheless. Maintenance should be made compulsory.
