generator with rust water for coolant,"go figure"if you keep having head problems and head gadket problems and are not over heating you need to hook it up to a time track tool and time it. you time the fuel pump while the engine is running with a electric timing tool that takes a 1# reference of the #1 injector line electronicly with a pulse detector it is prety cool and realy dials in the timing.
inproper injection timing realy hammers the hell out of the engine. some times lining up the

you will always have problems with the stanadyne fuel pump they dont last that long on anydoes not stand a chance, but the engine are still good and teh pumps are cheap compaired to most other pumps to repair, keep your filter clean and use a lubricity improver and this will help allot.
i have seen no cracked liners and only one cracked head were over heating was not the problem. teh onlt liner trouble i have seen was liner pitting from poor coolant quality on a high hour engine 40,000 hour

Awesome
@Carl250r
No pump problems yet (and we do have 4 ships with these engines).
The cooling won't be a problem. The cooling system is a closed circuit (like a car) but keel cooling instead of a radiator.
We sail on sweet (is that the opposite of salt?) water. So not rust problem either.
