  • Ridgebacks are packdogs and were BRED to hunt lions. Do some research...

  • Yeah, I'm down with bored shitless after ten seconds.

  • Ridge is too short and too thin

  • BORING video! My rhody is way cooler than that!

  • @pheeny69 ridgies weren't meant to attack the lion - it would be suicidal to do so, no matter how big the dog the lion would kill it. ridgies were used because they have the bravery to face one, the brains to not attack it, and the agility to stay alive. the ridgies were supposed to keep the lion 'at bay' so the hunter could get a shot off. i believe ridgies were the only dogs that regurlarly came back alive from the encounter.

  • I know this dog has a lot of nice attributes like its stamina and so on, but what's this hype about hunting lions, I'm sure all hounds will if trained to. Fighting lions to death that's the same as my hounds taking on bears and they have. Isn't that a must if you're hunting dangerous game?

  • @NMVEGTER He also said a BoerBoel weighs up to 300 pounds and has the same bite force as a lion, I'd ignore the entire thing he's just telling tall tales.

  • @kykdaar wow, what other dog was used to "track down and shoot" a lion? None! they were not bred to protect livestock, they were bred to to protect humans, and hunt lions. Truly amazing breed, they can run for hours in intense heat over rough terrain with very little water. Find me another breed that can match that! also, they rarely weigh over 100 lbs., not sure where you're getting 120lbs from

  • Ridgebacks are "NOT" Lion hunters. They were bred to protect livestock from Lions. I suppose going out hunting with two/three Ridgebacks in tow - the tracking down and shooting a lion becomes a lot easier. A Lion with not take on two 120lb dogs or one Boerboel which has the same bite psi as a lion and can weigh as much as 300lb.

  • i though the dog was gonna hunt a lion.... kinda disappointing
