Here Comes Goodbye Chapter 20

I begun to walk slowly toward her. She took a few steps towards me before she caught herself and stopped. She looked down.

People were staring but I didn't care. This was my last shot to get her back. I stopped about a foot in front of her. I placed my hand on the side of her face, she looked up. Tears were streaming down her face, I placed my other hand on the other side of her face and used my thumbs to wipe away her tears. The walls she built were breaking down. I could tell by her eyes. And for the first time since I've known her, she was going to go down without much of a fight.
"What are you doing here?" She whispered.
"I'm not letting you walk away, again. Never again will I feel the pain of heartbreak. I came after you." She broke down.
"Nick, I'm sorry. I was stupid. Please forgive me. Its just all this is overwhelming. I'm so sorry. I love you so much-" I pressed my lips to hers. I lived for four months and a week and a half without the feeling of her lips on mine. Not counting the one before she she said goodbye.
"I forgave you the moment you left. I know it's all overwhemling. And I love you,too." I pressed my lips to hers once more, hearing the thud of her carry on hit the floor. Her arms wrapped around my neck and pulled me closer and my hands slid down to her waist.

I heard clapping from the staring by-standers and saw camera flashes through my closed eyes. I pulled away from Charlotte and looked at everyone who was watching us. Paparzzi found their way through securtity and where taking pictures of Charlotte and me from all different angles. The men and women watching us had smiles on their faces and were clapping. Others were annoyed.

I looked back at Charlotte who was clinging to my arm with her head hanging down in embarrasment. I nudged her with my arm and she looked up.

"I had my vacation planned out. I'm goning to tell you now that all all of those plans invovled you. What I didn't plan on was you leaving me." She looked away in guilt. I turned her head back. " Do you want to know what my major plan for us was?" She nodded cautiosly. I dug through my jacket pocket and wrapped my fingers around the black box. I had it in my pocket since I got back from the hospital. I pulled it out of my pocket and held it up. I sild down to one knee and took her hand. Her eyes, wide with shock, began to bear tears. They swiftly fell down her face as I spoke.

"I know that we're only 19 and that you're not ready to get married just yet. I just need to know if you're willing to spend the rest of you're life with me, no matter how far apart we are or how bad things get. I need to know if I can hold you in my arms forever. I love you more than you could possibly know. We've been through tough times but we've made it each time. We don't need to get married now but I want to know that someday we will. Charlotte Marie Anderson, will you marry me?" I don't think even God knew how afraid I was of possibility that she would turn around and walk away. But when her hand moved from her mouth and she nodded, whispering a very audible yes, I knew that it was forever no matter what.

I stood up and kissed her agian. I pulled away and took the delicate sliver band from it's place in the satin and slid it on her finger. She jumped on me, wrapping her arms around my neck and pressed her lips to mine, kissing me deeply. My arms found their place around her waist. She pulled away and placed her head in the crook of my neck.

"I love you." She whispred agianst the bare skin. I hugged her as tight as I could, not planning on letting her go. I turned my face into her hair and inhailed the scent of her shampoo, something that I've come to miss.
"I love you, too. Thank you."
"For what?" She giggled.
"Everything."
