LYRICS
And I'm in need of a distraction
And I'm not sure what just happened
And all I know, or so I've been told
Is I need someone I can hold
When it gets dark and kind of lonely
My thoughts, they spark and then start roaring
I've wasted time, I've wasted so much time
On dead end roads and dim-lit signs
CHORUS
And that chapter is over
And I forgot what I just read
I'm better off, better off
And now I'm on the prowl for compliments
So you can light me up, light it up
And we'll pretend we're more than friends
And I have got to give it to you
For giving me words to look forward to
So I'll sing my songs, sing them loud and clear
And think happy thoughts till you get here
City streets and yellow leaves
As far as the eye can see
And your next trip, where will you be?
The question is will you be thinking of me?

We are back and with another original jam for you guys. This song is called City Streets And Yellow Leaves. I'm not sure why we can't write short, easily digestible songs, but it's just not in the cards for us. You may not be able to tell from the intro, verses and chorus, but this is definitely our most metal song (I'd love to put here that we're huge metal fans, but it's more like this... "I'm a huge fan of heavy music and I'm attempting to use brute force to convince Corben that he loves metal too"). If you don't believe me, head to 2:51 for a lead in to our metal musical breakdown (which actually starts 40 seconds later).
Just to give you an idea of how much time went into this video... Before we started recording, we put fresh strings on both guitars. Then we rearranged our music room to get a camera angle we liked. We set up 4 different lights (which makes the room entirely too hot) at different angles. Then we run all our instrument and mic cables through a firewire preamp into Logic Studio. We then check and set the gain levels of every track. At this point, we were ready to start recording, but the song didn't have any harmonies, so we spent about 30 minutes hashing those out. I believe we used the 4th or 5th take (out of six or 7). All said and done, it took about 4 1/2 hours to get the song recorded.
THEN, it's time for post production. We spent at least 10 hours touching up the audio in Logic Studio. Corben handled the initial mix, the .e.q., and the effects. I took care of automating all the tracks to get the levels close to perfect. After we got the audio sounding how we wanted it, I spent an hour or two in Final Cut Express color correcting and applying a slight vignette (subtle blurring and darkening of the corners) to the video. Then it's time for export and upload.
Hopefully you guys enjoy what you hear/see! Until next time...

That was fucking awesome!
Amazing breakdown into the cool metal guitar riffs, from an amazing acoustic part in the first place :D

@acmed101 Thanks man, glad you stuck with it out to the breakdown. I think it would be tight with a full band.
