First time riding English on my horses! Woot! =D
I know my equitation sucks and I don't have a clue what I'm doing. I haven't sat in an English saddle in six+ years and even then my time riding English was brief. Ever since then I've always ridden western and bareback and that's what my horses and I know. Dakota is my trail horse and Beauty is my project horse that I school in my homemade arena. So this is pretty much new to us and we have a lot to learn!

Also, I'm sorry the quality of this video is so poor. My camera really sucks at videoing and I have no one to film me when I ride, so I have to just set the camera on a barrel or one of the fence posts, lol.
Also, the timing is off. It got messed up when I uploaded it. Which is really annoying because the effects were so much better before.

Also, please don't comment tell me my one horse is off. I appriciate your concern, but I am aware of it. And it's a very long story. Thanks.

  • I ride western and my horse is a QH working on becoming a barrel horse, i always wanted to try riding english, do you think its prossible?

  • @QHWillow Well sure, I don't see why not. You could definitely give it a try. Especially if you're just doing it for fun. It felt weird to me to be riding English, and both my horses are used to western saddles and trail riding so it was a switch for them too. I'm not very good at it but it's fun to try something different now and then just for kicks.

  • What style did you ride before?

  • @fonjadidi Western & Bareback. I've only ridden English a handful of times since making this video. I think I'll pick it up again next summer just for kicks. I'm really a western girl but it is fun to try something different.

  • When you were posting, you didn't post that high... other than that, pretty good for your first lesson. My first time on English, I didn't get to canter. Or even trot!

  • @catloverz2 Thanks. It had been a long time since I'd posted and I was a little rusty at it. Plus my one horse was being lazy and wanted to do a western jog, lol.

    It wasn't a lesson, just me fooling around with my horses so that's why I was trotting and cantering, lol. I know how to ride, I just always go western or bareback so english felt weird to me.

  • @rupertbunyip Aw. Been there before; it sucks. A whole summer of no riding. It was HELL. O_e;

    I hope you get the chance to try it out. Never a bad idea to broaden horizons. =^^=

  • @HorseListener13 my boy is out of work atm -_- he needs some serious work doing and i've not got the set up to do it right now, a western riding school has just started up near me though so I might give it a shot, maybe I can retrain mine that way, might suit him better!
