You Tube contributor "Jamnospam" has created what I believe to be the best of the parodies taken from the critically acclaimed German picture, "Downfall" -- placing his own subtitles over Hitler's dialogue (played by Swiss actor Bruno Ganz) -- ruminating about the adverse effects of the housing crash. As Mel Brooks often says about his parodies of Nazi Germany -- beyond punishing the their crimes, the most effective way to "get back" at Adolph Hitler is to mock him, to make fun of him, to humiliate him. In the spirit of fair use parody, several "knock-offs" of this video have been made addressing pop culture phenomena -- but none have the humorous clarity of mirroring present news as this video, which has generated nearly 2 million hits at You Tube since its debut in November 2008.
