Dave's hero worship off Johnny Carson is what gave NBC the leverage to treat Dave like shit during his last year at NBC. They knew he wanted the Tonight Show so badly they screwed around with his contract until Johnny told Dave personally that he should walk.

@mar10ssj1 Agreed. I was fortunate enough to have been born when he was still on the air, and his last appearance as host happened before my 12th birthday. And my parents watched him, so I got to know him too. Thanks to DVD collector sets, my children will know who Johnny was also.

kinda makes me sad to know there won't be another Johnny Carson. Just when we need him the most. Television is clearly not the same without him.

I don't like Letterman anymore because he talks too much politics and I'm not of his persuasion.But I have to say he did a good job in his Johnny Carson tribute. Carson was class always..
