Warren Buckleitner of Children's Technology Review has a first look at Scout and Violet. You plug the stuffed animals into your computer's USB port to customized it's audio track for your child. After put in the two AA batteries and plug the toy into your computer's USB port with the included cable, you install or download the toy's software, where you can choose your child's name, favorite food, favorite color, favorite songs and favorite animals. If something is missing, for example, if you child happens to be named Barack, you can send a request by email to Leapfrog. After the information is downloaded, you unhook your pet and turn him/her on by pressing one of the paw switches. A blue LED lights up on his front, and one of the customized songs, rhymes or raps comes out of the toy's internal speaker. The audio is clear, although it is not possible to adjust the volume, and there's no handphone option. To toggle through the songs, you press one of the front paws. For example, you might hear "Matt, lets' sing a song about you." While this idea is not unique, it has not been implemented this smoothly before, especially for just $20. There are two colors and names, Violet (the new 'pink') and Scout, who is green.
Yes Barack is on the list

I bought one of these for my friends child in Britain and the voice programmed into it is of a heavily accented British boy who can't pronounce words properly or sing in tune which is in my opinion poor quality. I love "Violet", I think it's great but where do they get the children to record in this toy?
