In 1965, Don Robertson formed the trio called the Contrasts consisting of Lee Durley on organ and vocals, Don Robertson on guitar, and Rod Jenkins playing drums. Their first gigs took place in Denver night spots, but in the fall, the group moved to Boulder, Colorado and became a sensation. In early 1966, their manager, Ron Pinkard, took the group to Las Vegas where they played in the Silver Nugget Casino. The group disbanded when Don Robertson left to attend the Institute of Ethnomusicology in Los Angeles. Ron Pinkard went on to become a Hollywood actor, playing Dr. Mike Morton in the TV series Emergency, as well as roles in other TV shows such as Dragnet, Barnaby Jones, Ironside, Mission: Impossible, Perry Mason, Adam-12, Quincy, The Partridge Family, Wild Wild West and Matlock as well as the movie The Hunt for Red October.
