The Victorian composer Robert Pearsall deliberately set out to imitate the great English madrigalists, such as Thomas Morely. Pearsalls piece is somewhat anachronistic, with its formal structure and canonic devices, but is still very expressive, and in writing this "semi-pastiche", he created one of the most lovely part-songs of the era.
flat but not bad

This is so beautiful! I love this song and every singer put amazing emotion into the song which makes it so much better!

Thanks for this. And if there's one thing better than watching/listening to Pearsall on YouTube, it's singing! We did 'Garland' last Saturday and I still have shivers down the spine. Has anyone posted any clips of his Requiem?
