Today On Galshell: Blood Red Skies

Today I thought I'd see how far I could get in Galshell: Blood Red Skies before giving up the ghost. As you can see it wasn't very far. Made alot of stupid mistakes near the end...my mind was definitely on food throughout that run. I haven't played this game since last year. It's wierd, I was playing Gradius and for some reason I started to think of Galshell and how much I used to enjoy playing that badboy. So I decided to pick it back up, play it, and record it.
I remember when I could at least get to stage 6 before eating it raw...sigh.

Galshell is a free game you can download and play on your PC.

I know almost zip about this game. I'm clueless about the story except I'm pretty sure you are supposed to kill that girl in the opening credits.
The game has two characters. In the video I play as the male character.
His special weapon are those two semi-homing lasers.
The female's special are these six fast, tiny, and super-homing...uh...spermlike things she shoots out and I think she is slightly faster too.
Your normal weapon powers up by filling that meter in the upper-right corner. You fill it by hitting enemies with your bullets and by collecting these flesh-cookies that enemies drop. But enemies will only drop them if you kill them with your normal fire. Except the bosses. They always drop an asston of cookies after the explode.
Also everytime you powerup you gain a life. Which you will need because this game throws recockulous amounts of enemy fire at you. Which I love!
Also I dig the slightly disturbing artstyle of the whole game. Kinda H.R. Giger-esque. I love the music too. Not sure if they are original pieces but they are good. I used the music of each stage as the music during the video because Fraps funked up the actual gameplay sounds.

I just beat it on Omake the other day. But I could only do it with the girl type. I need more time for shmups.

Both of the Galshell games are weird because their final bosses suddenly change the mood from terrifying Gieger nightmare to extremely silly typical Japanese shmup.

Spoilers: Galshell's final boss is a girl about the size of your ship whose bullet patterns form a giant frowny face. Galshell 2's final boss is absolutely indescribable.

I just got both Galshell games after watching this video and i think they pretty good. but im having a problem in this one,every bullet effect have a black square background thing around them how can i fix it?

any other ideas on how to make this game run faster? It's extremely slow. Not even close to playable. I tried running it in 256 colors. barely an improvement.

hi to fix ur perfoamnce issue in vista just right click the exe icon and choose properties and then choose run in 256 colors that will solve your performance issue have fun and enjoy this good shmup
