40,000 Cu Inch 2 cylinder 4 carbs 400 h.p.

This is a 1917 Snow natural gas pumping engine. It is a tandem 2 cylinder engine. The pistions are enclosed in the cylinder on both ends so you have four combustion chambers. I has 4 carbs, 4 intake and 4 exhaust valves. It runs off propane. It produces 400 H.P. at 120 RPM's. It is a 20" bore X 36" stroke. thats over 40,000 cu. inch. the flywheel weights 12 tons and is 12 feet in diameter. The engine weights 100 tons!!! Now that's heavy metal!!!

@Taterslawify now, to put that much torque in perspective, lets say we did put a simple one foot long lever on the crankshaft. that lever would be able to exert MORE than 8 3/4 TONS of pressure, at 90 deg. angle from the lever.

so, its no joke when you say this engine has tons of torque.
