When attempting the Three Peaks in a clockwise direction the steepest climb comes at Whernside with 400 metres of ascent in just over 2km between Bruntscar and the summit. It's a tough section that is for sure. Read the full report of the walk with photographs at www.walkingenglishman.com

  • surely not, bet you've got the mac wet a few times.

  • Mike you are nuts, maybe I am just a fairweather whallah after all.

  • I know it only too well, oce went up in driving snow and was crawling by the top as it was over knee deep. Eating sandwiches on top was a real struggle as my hands were so numb I could hardly hold them!

  • A b*$@%* of an ascent in any less than perfect weather! You know the weather I mean, we get it 4-5 days per year in the Dales!
