But really, if you perform regular backups and keep your insurance payments up to date, there's no reason to shed any tears over ruined technology. That being said, what would be the first gadgets you'd grab if fire were to strike?

I'm going to convince my parents to get an online back up service. We have a lot of digital documents and more importantly priceless photos from as much as 10 years back. It would be heartbreaking if we lost of it.

Well if a fire started in my house (only way is from an electrical fault) i'd run down and shut off the fuse box, then grab my 2 extinguishers and let-r-rip. If i couldnt get it out, id run and shut every single bedroom door to keep heat and smoke from entering & in case i couldnt find my cats, their chances for survival are a lot better if theyre in a closed room & not exposed to heat or smoke. Same with my belongings. Too bad my house is balloon framed. that makes fire spread A LOT quicker.

My great-grandparents had a house fire last July and lost everything. We had to think of everything in the house and write it down! You are right,home inventories are important.

I would grab my stuff that I take everywhere and if I could I would throw my safe out of the window and grab my laptop, I could easily do all that in a few seconds.

First gadget I would save are my external drives but I always have my phone in my pocket so with out doing anything I would be saving that! :) so really my external drives that have a backup of my computer and I could always buy a new computer any way and have the backup right there
