The GSP is a very loyal breed and if you were to meet my 2 pointers on a dark night you wouldnt live to tell the tale, they have NEVER been trained to protect or to be aggressive but if you go near my fiance in the evening or get close to my house they will kill you no questions asked. They are both well trained gundogs and I reitterate the fact have never been trained to be aggressive base breeds are not always about the character sometimes its stamina, build, look or speed.
Yes, today the Doberman is a gentle, docile dog. Originally Louis Doberman wanted a large, terrier-type dog to protect him when he collected taxes. It doesn't make sense to use the GSP because they aren't watch dogs or terriers. Why use a breed that is the opposite of the temperament you're looking for? I'm certainly not a Doberman expert. We can surmise what breeds are the foundation breeds for the Doberman, but probably no one will ever know for sure.
Well first the Doberman is not an agressive K-9. I know it is hard to believe but they are very gentle docile dogs. They were bread for protection, and they don't require bite training.
But twelve breeds of dogs went into the creation, and one of them was the GSP. Also yes the Rottwieler. Do some research, the Doberman is a wonderfull companion. Too bad they got a bad rap because of how they look alone. My female has her ears, and you would'nt be able to tell he origin.
Why on Earth would the GSP be used to create a large, aggressive terrier watch dog like the Doberman Pinscher? I don't subscribe to the theory that the GSP was used to make the Doberman. More like Rottweiler, German Pinscher and other watch dog and terrier types.
I have Dobies. This is one of the suspect twelve breeds used for the creation. I see very much the place the GSP role has played in The DOBERMAN. Nice video, you all get anything?
Beautiful dog.. look at that tail go! Ours was docked so I never saw a tail like that. Like a big white flash!
Ours was a similar colour, solid brown face and dark speckles, and my dad used to take him hunting too. Except my dad was a rotten shot and didn't like shooting little birdies as well.
i have a "GSP" as everyones calling it we dont use him for hunting he just goes to the winery and runs all day witha boxer and hes different from most ive seen he is mainly white with ticks and a couple brown spots
Absolutely stunning! No better breed!

Possibly the loyalty aspect of the GSP, and also build. Side by side the two breeds have a lot in common.
