This is really good. It would be a good ploy to play this to unsuspecting listeners versus Johnny Mercer's version then ask the question "who has the more understanding of this song?"

Thanks for uploading the original Hoagy Carmichael. I hope you don't mind my little addition to Lucy's great rendition of the beautiful "Memphis In June".
Ginnie Powell, one of the most underrated of all jazz vocalists. She did a marvelous job with her interpretation of this gem.

@broadwayapple You are so right. This an absolutely fabulous recording. Hoagy is so relaxed and at ease with himself. Simply and amazingly beautiful. One of my favorite 50's jazz recordings.

This mid-50s record by Hoagy is a masterpiece - with a great Johnny Mandel arrangement. The version recorded around the same time by his frequent songwriting collaborator Johnny Mercer (and ace arranger Billy May) is another gem!
