Clarinet Marmelade Dutch Swing College 2005

The Dutch Swing College Band celebrated its 60th anniverary in 2005. Stylistically the band has always worked to keep their own recognizable sound.
Now in 2006 the band only has two members from the earlier period.
Leader and reedplayer Bob Kaper joined the band in 1966 and has been with the band until now. Cornettist Bert de Kort was in the band from 1969 until 1977 and rejoined in 1999 again. The other members, all with a thorough background in the Dutch jazz world are brothers Fritz Katee on reeds and George Katee on trombone.
The rhythm group consist of Marcel Hendricks piano, Ton van Bergeijk banjo, Arie Braat bass and Han Brink drums.
It's certainly a good band.
This is a club recording from 2005

  • A perfect easy going dixie-swing orchestre, still going strong, according to my knowledge is the drummer Bobby Dekker !!!!

  • Does anyone have any information about Neva Raphello(?) who sang with the DSC Band. I was particularly fond of her singing.

The DSC have been a consistently great band, and that they have endured for more than sixty years is a testament to the esteem in which they are held.

Thank you for sharing such gems.

  • The cream of the crop in Dutch trad jazz!!
