The bad economy, unemployment, foreclosures and indiscriminate breeding have all combined to create a "perfect storm" of unwanted horses. This video was created to help those in financial crisis learn how to safely place their horse and avoid the unscrupulous "Killer Buyers." Sadly, horse traffickers have cropped up in Northern California, transporting horses to Mexico and Canada for slaughter for human consumption. Jason Preisner from NorCal Rescue and Louise Parker from "The Last Furlong" provide the facts on this illegal activity and offer suggestions for alternatives to selling horses at auctions. We had a horse go to the children's wish foundation and he is being trained before his next good home. Then the purchaser's $ goes to the foundation. If your in Ontario, you can look up Garrison equine too.

Good to see this video. More people NEED to know about this. There are actually a lot of people who will steel your horses at night to sell them for meat here in Canada. No one even considers putting their horse in an auction around here. Most people (about 98%) buying at auctions are buying for meat. People actually don't know about the toxicity levels in horse meat. There is also Habitat for horses and the children's wish foundation.
