Nice looking rifle. What year/arsenal is it? Bayos extended on the M44 carbines. +1 AJ, no more names and human tower. I have three myself. A Russian Izhevsk 1946, Romaniam 1955 and Hungarian 1953, amongst others :D

my mosin was made 1942 in the soviet union :D
even has alittle soviet emblem engraved

The gun is most accurate with bayonet on the barrel as it would have been for war, as it gives the barrel the best harmonics. The SKS rifles are the same, which is why with them if you do not wish to shoot them extended then they are removed because they negatively effect barrel harmonics while folded.
To the Original Poster. Nice rifle, your friend has some great marksmanship.

The mosin nagant is yes but dont forget the m44 was not used in Stalingrad-it didnt come out until 1944 and the battle of Stalingrad was 1942 to early 1943...

One of the Soviet heroes of Stalingrad! Thanks man!

If the POI is different with the bayonet out, and you don't want to shoot with it out, you can easily sight it in without the bayonet folded out. I've yet to see an M44 where the crown is obstructed by the bayonet latch.

i miss nic, his shot is so on fire. too bad he isn't russian like you boris.
U do know that on the Mosin Nagant M44, the rifles were sighted in with their bayonets extended..thats why he is hitting the target...without the bayonet extended SOMETIMES it will shift the POA either to the left or to the right depending on your rifle.
