William Elliott Whitmore hails from an Iowa horse farm along the banks of the Mississippi River, and his intense love and spiritual understanding of the land is flawlessly conveyed on his albums for Southern Records; a trilogy of albums collecting songs overflowing with mortality, sorrowful joy and attempts to make peace with a conflicted sense of morality.

"The river is on its hands and knees" is the sort of devastatingly effective image 28-year-old William Elliott Whitmore can growl out of his ancient-sounding throat as routinely as he breathes. Acoustic blues and mountain ballads are his building blocks, and from those common raw materials he constructs keening memorials and bleak epiphanies...earthy, rich, and unblinkingly committed to staring into the abyss.
This is a promotional video that was made by Joel Anderson from OPTIMUS, using a portion of the opening track of Whitmore's forthcoming 3rd album, "Song of the Blackbird."

I don't think a full version was ever recorded. This is all I found. Again, this was just a promo for OPTIMUS TV and they probably just had him do a 30 second spot/take. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's the case here. I'll try to get a hold of William and see what he says.
