Speech Recognition used to control the space flight simulator game called Star Wraith. The commands allow you to interact with your craft on a verbal level. Speak commands such as: "Launch Missile", "Engage Turbo Jets", "Nearest Target", ...

No need to memorize dozens of buttons. Just speak the commands and the game responds. Voice recognition in this context is not meant to replace the joy stick. It is simply an enhancement to the interactive nature of the game itself.

  • @SpartanGIS2 No, it just ads to the effect that you can speak and the game will do what you say. After all, this is a futuristic sci-fi game

  • GAmer: launch countermeasures

AI:* few seconds later* countermeasures launched

  • lol it must be so hard press a key to launch a missile or launch countermeasures.

  • should have told his computor teammates to do a barrol roll

  • its Star Wraith read his description.

then look up the games that the company who made star wraith have made since star wraith and before... no wonder it looks like Evochron Legends.

My experience when you started to use LOADS of voice commands was that it was wise to use more than one word for each command and keep the commands to stuff a bit out of reach. Unlike say left mouse button.

This is because some words my sound similar to the computer and the wrong action might be executed. Example: reject vs eject :D

On confirmation its best to have something short. I used a confirmation blip for fast actions that just told me "out of game" the software understood it.

  • The only game I found usefull for voice recognition is Swat 3 (no not 4). Since I used the arrow keys for forward etc I had to move my hands to the 1 key area to give commands. Some times when I did this a enemy poped into my sights and I got killed.

So, instead of that I sat up this really alabarte setup with the old GameVoice program.

Example: Red team. Flash and bank. (or) Move and clear. It worked pretty well because unlike most times it this time it was faster.

  • e-Speaking is actually a pretty decent voice command program. I was honestly surprised by it. Not as good as Dragon Naturally Speaking, but a hell of a lot cheaper, lol. It's free for the first 30 days, but after that, if you want to add or edit commands, it's just $14 for the license to activate that part of the program.

  • You can use voice recognition in bridge commander

  • lol
