@porschturb acceleration: that's the point. No ferrari or porsche owner cares about the ability to accelerate from a standistill nor do ferrari or porsche fans (would you expect this from a ferrari owner "oh damn i did 0-100 three tenth of a sec slower than the mclaren...my car is crap!". come on...)
a Veyron beats an Enzo only in Top Gear...guess why
the standing start just fits better for TV formats because it seems more spectacular, that's why top gear has chosen it
@jorehir This isn't about "track-day" competition, it's about evaluating which of these cars is fastest around THIS particular track and the only way to accurately compare them is to have experimental controls. One of which would be the start, take Top Gear for example they start each car from a standstill. It would have created a more complex evaluation of the cars abilities because it would have included the cars ability to accelerate. Think what you want, I can respect your opinion.
@porschturb if you wanna challenge someone during a track-day, would you begin your race from a standstill? i don't think so (you coulnd't even if you want to): that's the real world
and what about those cars that don't have launch control?
starting the lap from 110mph basically means that you have a less powerfull engine: doing a standing start would give you the same disadvantage
