@LoStallionItaliano there is no optional front locker or rear locker. so do us all a favor and shut the hell up and stop running your mouth off with second hand knowledge and no research done.
-
@LoStallionItaliano apparently you need to go back to school and listen to all those people who know a whole hell of a lot more than you. those wires on the diff is the abs unit dipshit. the front diff never ever had the option to be locked or lsd because it is not strong enough. its an aluminum housing and very small axle shafts that would snap with the torque. i own a 98 rango with a rear lsd. just because it says 4x4 doesn't mean its got a locker. the front axle is a dana 35 ifs.

Boy your a true idiot aren't you? The 1st Generation Durango never came with a locking differential, nor was it EVER an option. The only option it ever had was an open gearing 194 FIA or a C205F front axle. And the rear axle options where either a Chrysler Corporate 8.24 or a Chrysler 9.25 rear axle, and with that came the regular open gearing differential or the Limited Slip differential carrier. You my friend need to go back to school.

I have definitely gotten A front tire to spin and A rear tire at the same time, hence open diff front and rear.

the 1st generations Durangos (1998-2003) did NOT EVER come with locking differentials in either the front or the rear. All 4x4 models came with an open front differential, no option for a lsd (limited slip differential)/positrac unit was available. In the rear you could get an open rear gear set OR a trac lock LSD, this is probably the option that you have on your truck if you have seen both rear tires spinning at the same time. That is unless you or the previous owner had a locker swapped in
-
@LoStallionItaliano Idk man sounds to good to be true. also as I've never heard this anywhere before.
-
@LoStallionItaliano well if it has the locking rear axle then why are there so many people on the forums talking about getting a rear locker? there'd be no point since it already is. I'm not trying to argue but I'm just curious now if what you are saying is true.
-
@LoStallionItaliano well my family has owned my durango since it was brand new in 2002 when we bought it and its got 85k miles and this is how its always worked. it was an option to get a posi in the rear from dodge but it was an added feature. you might have the limited slip and i might not but from what you're saying then both my front and rear axle locks in 4x4 it'd be pretty damn near impossible to get it stuck. possible but very hard.
-
@LoStallionItaliano to be a "locking" diff means that both rear tires would spin no matter what and I've been in situations where only my rear right tire was spinning when switched into 4x4 I'm not sure which front wheel is the drive wheel but trust me when i say its not stock to come with locking differentials. if that where the case it'd be damn near impossible to get em stuck. and yeah that much i do know is that they're based on truck chassis not car chassis. idk man

@LoStallionItaliano ah well my knowledge by no means spans that far back. BUT INTERWEBZ ARGUMENTS ARE SO FUNNEH
my mom toyota highlander would probably be like that in the snow
