Lucrecia is Sephiroths biological mother. While he was in her womb Hojo injected Lucrecia with Jenova cells as part of the Jenova Project. In an attempt to create a person with an Ancients power. Sephiroth only calls Jenova "Mother" because he was told that was his mothers name. Most likely by Hojo himself. If you've played Dirge of Cerberus you'll see Lucrecia while she's pregnant having visions of Sephiroth as an adult...walking through the fire which he used to burn down Nibelheim
