OVER-THE-RHINE, Ohio (WKRC) -- Graeters Ice Cream hopes to open a new store at 14th and Vine in time for Christmas. Were coming back to our roots, Graeters CEO Richard Graeter told Local 12. We had stores in that area 125 years ago. Graeters has signed a lease for a 1,000 square foot storefront at 1401 Vine Street in Over-the-Rhine. It will be the size of a 19th century ice cream parlor with seating for about 25 people. The new store will have the full range of Graeters Ice Cream flavors served from a traditional granite-top soda fountain. The store will not have a bakery on site but will sell cookies, candy and snacks. The new Vine Street location will also feature an espresso bar.Graeter says he came up with idea after 3CDC president Steve Leeper took him on a tour of the neighborhood. I think its pretty cool, Graeter said. I was taken aback by the amount of development that has taken place. Especially the residential development. The whole community has hit a tipping point and is becoming a vibrant, urban neighborhood.
