I think the great thing about this song, and a lot of her songs, is that there are so many interpretations. That it can mean so many things to so many people. Think about it--when you hear this song, and provide your interpretation, it reflects your opinions and experiences. A good song touches lots of people for lots of reasons. It starts out meaning something to the person who wrote it, giving it its life and authenticity, but once it's out there, its fluid and free.

I love this song so much. It's essence makes the listener literally feel the exact emotion of what's being sang. I would go deeper than to say it's primarily focused on the aftermath of vulnerabilty though. Piiter pat is the heart beating, but like it's says, pain takes place of heart. So, it's pain which is keeping us alive. As damned as that may be it's beautiful because it's a vital part of our relationship with that same love. And that, no matter what, can be altered

i think this soung sounds like she had married/dated someone they had a kid the person she dated/married died and then she probably had the choice to get married/date another person again this is just my opinion

I think it's about regretting the sex she had last night.

please make a karaoke :))
Am I to late for this discussion? I think it's the difficulties of having sex. The regret of after the fact that you did when you thought you felt the same as your partner but in all actuality you felt more then your partner. The aftermath of feeling vulnerable.

I love the way it starts out, with the drumbeats and the few notes on the piano. Almost like a beating heart and tears.
