It's Indy 500 weekend down in Indianapolis, so for the occasion, here's a race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Sega's Indy 500 game.

Emulated in ElSemi's Model 2 Emulator version 0.9 and recorded using FRAPS.

  • Oh shit i forgot about this game! Was this ever released on a home console? I'd like to get it if it was!

  • @TheUnbiasedGamer - Sadly, Indy 500 never got a home port. The only way to play this game is to emulate it in ElSemi's Model 2 Emulator. However, the emulation isn't perfect. Either that, or the ROM that's been dumped is slightly different from the one I've seen in all Indy 500 cabinets I've played. Some things are different on the cabinets I've played, such as the rolling start, which starts further back and with your car in 6th gear. Also, the name entry screen is introduced differently.

  • Where did you get the rom? In my version the car is red/blue

  • You can alter your car's paint job by doing this:

-Press F2 to enter the Test Menu

-Go to "Game Assignments" by pressing F1 until the cursor reaches there, then press F2

-Change your car's color/number by changing "Cabinet ID" to any value between 1(default) and 8(I set mine to 2). Use F1 to move the cursor and press F2 to change the ID of your "machine"

  • I have been to that place for the brickyard 500 once.

  • I Wished That It Were On The 32x Or The Sega Saturn :(

  • i dotn know about you guys but i love these games so much more than those modern day racing simulators. so much simpler. just get in and drive.

  • oh man. everytime at the lake tahoe harrah's casino. this in 8 players and daytona usa lined up together. it was heaven

  • @Albino2005

Well, The original Arcade version has a steering wheel that is near what a Logitech G25 or G27 is capable. That wheel is comfortable and a little more sensitive and with quick response than a lot of cheaper wheels for US$ 70,00 in stores.

  • @eriklima2 But what about the arcade vesion? With the wheel I could never make it.

  • @Albino2005

It's not impossible. Just use a good joystick, like a Playstation 2 clone with analog sticks configuration and you're done.
