Donald, my container is really deep and big. Probably holds two huge bags of Miracle Grow. I don't have all Miracle Grow in it...I have cow compost. I have some small holes in the bottom of the container for drainage; I wondered if you sprout your potatoes or do you buy them somewhere?

Donald,
I would like to plant some potatoes but I know it is now fall and not sure if this is a good idea. I have some huge thick containers that cow supplements come in and that is where I want to plant the potatoes. Can you give me any help on doing this? I would appreciate any advice you can give me.

Thanks very much, tried it today as well. Hopefully they'll grow from a window sill.

I've already started some of my first broccoli for planting in August / September. In fact I started some today......... Donald
Just another request.....could you please give us gardeners who have limited planting space some container gardening ideas....We love your videos.

I would start with about 4-6 inches of soil on the bottom, plant the potatoes then cover with 3-4 inches of soil. As the plants grows I would add dirt around it until I reach the top of the container. Potatoes love fertile soil so I would mix a little Miracle Grow into the watering can about once a month.
A container garding tip... it's best to have containers that are too large than too small. Plants (roots) need room to grow........ Donald

I have not seen any seed potatoes at my local seed stores and I have read that potatoes seeded from grocery store potatoes don't produce good potatoes. Can you give me any advice on where to get them this late in the year? Thank you so much. Your videos have gotten me so excited about gardening. I now have turnips, mustard, lettuce and Savoy cabbage in the ground. Thanks for the great videos.

At this time of the year I doubt you'll find seed potatoes. Next time you go to the store pick up some potatoes with eyes on em and use them. It would be better than nothing. Wash them off real well being careful not to damage the sprouts / eyes before planting....... Donald

Donald, as for planting the potoes in the big container, I live in south Georgia and our winters are fairly mild. We do have quite a bit of frost but never any snow. Thanks

It is getting a little late right now for potatoes, I would wait till the spring. How deep are the containers you plan on using? ......... Donald
