Thanks for getting back to me. I've no idea if it was the Jackanory version - probably not as it wasn't narated though....... I remember that at the beginning, there was a glass box revolving with very haunting music, probably from a funfair organ - my brother and mine's imaginations were completely absorbed. Guess it must be out there somewhere! I know it was before 1974 because it was at primary school (left July 1972). Here's hoping!

@Philip8582 Ah, then's it's solved! From what you describe it can only be the long running ITV Schools programme PICTURE BOX. A quick search shows a few clips here at YT.

I particularly loved 'Tom's midnight garden' in black and white. I have never forgotten it back at primary school in about 1970 (not 1974 version). Have you ever seen it or come across it - would really love to see it again.

@Philip8582 Besides this I've the 1974 TV series and 1999 film. The only other adaptation I know of was for JACKANORY in 1967. Is this the one you mean?

Thank you so much! I don't know if I'll ever find the Picture Box version of 'Tom's Midnight Garden' but just listening to the theme tune and watching the box revolve was magic! Years and years later I found a very similar box in an antique shop here in Brazil, where I live - for some of the reasons I've explained, I couldn't resist it. I'll keep looking. Big thank you!

Can someone please upload the complete version of this series. This version is supposed to be far superior to the 1974 TV version and it also lasts for 3 hours instead of 90 minutes like the 1974 version. It is even better than the 1998 film version many people have said.

The original Tom's Midnight Garden TV series came out in 1974. I remember watching it back then as a child. I didn't know that a remake of it was made in 1989.
