Preview Of Child In The Night (1990)

Could ''Child In The Night'' be the spiritual sequel to Poltergeist III?

For those of you that have never seen this film, I give you a sneak preview.

This video shows 2 scenes from the 1990 thriller ''Child In The Night'' starring both Jobeth Williams (Poltergeist I & II) and Tom Skerritt (Poltergeist III) this made for television film is about an 8 year old little boy named Luke who witnesses his father's brutal murder one night at the hands of a killer, since he is the only eyewitness he must come forward but he tells the police that he didn't see anything when police then grow suspicious of Luke's story after seeing blood on a bit of sharp glass on the window which had a clear view of the murder which was confirmed by forensics as the boy's blood. The detective on the case is played by ''Tom Skerritt'' who grows impatient with Luke and decides to hire a child psychologist who is played by the lovely ''Jobeth Williams'' to help Luke come forward with explaining what really happened and what he saw. Towards the end of the film the Tom Skerritt and Jobeth Williams characters eventually fall in love with each other and finally discover who the real murderer is.

If you're into thrillers and who done its? Then this film is worth checking out. I don't know how these two actors ended up in a film together considering they were both featured in the Poltergeist saga but none the less I like it! It's one of my favourite films.

Just a pity Heather O'Rourke was missing from the line up.

In another odd similarity David E. Kelley's 1992 Drama show ''Picket Fences'' starred both ''Tom Skerritt'' and ''Zelda Rubinstein'' from Poltergeist III. Tom Skerritt played local Rome Wisconsin town sheriff Jimmy Brock and Zelda Rubinstein played Ginny, a psychic police secretary working in the sheriff's department.

This video originally had footage from Picket Fences added in but the upload was blocked due to a copyright claim from FOX so I had to remove Picket Fences.

1995's ''Poltergeist The Legacy'' was an official spin off TV show from the 3 Poltergeist films that aired for 4 seasons but it was a crap show that revolved around ghost hunters that collected artifacts and keys, it bared nothing in common with the Poltergeist films and was only related through having the same name and was soon cancelled, the only good thing about The Legacy is that Zelda Rubinstein made one appearance as another psychic.

Enjoy!

  • wow JoBeth and Tom Skeritt both actors from the Poltergeist films, just seeing them makes me think that if this was Poltergeist 3 and I could think up a story just watching this scene now like imagine Heather with her mother and uncle in this apartment and it should show the last battle of Kane and the mother & uncle trying to save Heather, and the love bond between mother & daughter as shown in the films mother trying to protect her little daughter and defeat Kane for the last time.

  • @chemicalbro2007 It's a very good film, it should of been called ''Poltergeist 4'' and it's about a child aswell. I too was surprised to see these two actors together in the same movie both being involved in the Poltergeist films.

Tom Skerritt even mentions ''Picket Fences'' which he would later play a vital role in which also starred Zelda Rubinstein.
