Original "brown wax" promotional copy. It appears to be black wax until you hold it up to a light which you will see 30 seconds into this video. Soulful doo wop with a heavy bassline, clean snare and a brass horn section.. It doesn't get much better than this!

were these the originals that went tto motown a little later, i remember one hit they had called suspicion.

I believe these "Originals" have no connection to the Motown group. Members of that group were in Detroit recording as "The Voice Masters" when this group of Originals was recording in NY at Bell Sound.

I don't think "Suspicion" was ever released in the States but I've heard that it was a Northern Soul hit in the UK

I love group harmony, "the folk music of the cities," and am glad to have been alive and into it when it was new; but the world of the '50s was not Ozzie-and-Harriet-land or Happy Days or any of the other lame TV depictions. We had cool music and cars, but real problems and issues, too. I'm grateful to be here now, thanks, especially with the internet technology that can introduce me to music in this great classic style I never heard before--like this one. Nice find, PJ!
