In the early hours of the morning on January 2nd 2010 at around 2 am, Hamilton Police Officer Ross Jessop pulled over Raymond Thane Davis for a minor traffic violation.

Davis had been drinking heavily that night (Jan. 1) and was armed with a .41 caliber revolver handgun. When Jessop approached Davis and asked how much he had had to drink, Davis pointed the gun at Jessop and pulled the trigger but the hammer fell on an empty round.

Jessop moved his face away from the threat as fast as he could and ran towards the back of Davis' vehicle, while drawing his Glock, Model 22 handgun. Davis then fired again at Jessop as he ran and this time a bullet left the gun, but the bullet missed Jessop.

When Jessop was behind the vehicle he fired his pistol 14 times into Davis' vehicle as it sped away. Six bullets hit Davis' vehicle, including one that drove through the passenger and driver's seats and into Davis' back. One round hit Davis in the back and he was killed on the scene. Afterwards Davis' vehicle crashed into a power company's telephone pole and came to a stop.

A jury later ruled that Hamilton Police Officer Ross Jessop was justified in shooting Raymond Thane Davis to death after Davis had opened fire on Jessop.

  • @pittbulldave660 The man had been drinking, got pulled over because of it. And after the officer was fired at, he drew his weapon. This man obviously didn't care about anything. He shoots at a cop and takes off. I would have fired back as well, I wouldn't allow a drunk gunman go to town and injure dozens up people. Point being, cop reacted to a life or death situation.

  • @isaanStyle55 i have a florida concealed carry permit and the law says that i have to fear for my life or the life of an innocent person to pull my weapon and use it. That means if i see a soccer mom getting literally beat to death in the parking lot and she hasnt done anything to provoke someone i can shoot that person even if they dont have a gun because i was in fear of the womans life. and yes under the castle law i can draw my firearm on someone unlawfully entering my home or vehicle.

  • @mattc1683 i like arizona state laws, wish they were over here in this shit hole that i live in :/

  • @cheweedaug yes they can in self defense. I know in nys you can only shoot someone if theyre shooting at you(the law says), but i also know if someone is armed and points a gun at you without shooting, you can shoot them first and get away with it(gun laws here are stupid). But in florida state, I hear that if someone is even trespassing or invading our house, you can blow their brains out, but i dont know if they have to be armed.

  • @cheweedaug thats not true at all. Here in arizona i can shoot anyone who i feel is a threat to me. If you so much as say im gonna punch you i can stick my gun in your face, castle law says if you break into my home i can kill you. It also says if you try to take my car i can kill you, if i feel in danger in any way i can shoot and kill you. Same in alot of states. I dont know where your getting your info but its bullshit

  • Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

  • Awesome job shooting the bad guy. Hopefully it was a slow death. Excellent

  • @cheweedaug Not true at all, there are many legal reasons you can shoot someone as a civilian(that's the word, not citizen)
