Do you have a E - Kit such as a Yamaha, Alesis, Roland or an ION. Want to play GHWT on your ION set or E-kit with all 5 lanes. Well you can use the Midi imput on the GHWT drum set and just use the brain module to interface with your console. This requires you to have this tiny toy drumset near your e-Kit. This tutorial will show you how to take the brain out and have it be a nice standalone module so you can attach it to your ekit and get rid of the toy, just use the brain.

Enjoy the tutorial.

  • I got one of these from the Goodwill "bins" and stripped it down...I'm not interested in video games but am interested in electronic drums. Lot of usable parts here especially the piezos and pads. Built an extra drum pad for my kit from the parts and it works GREAT. Think I paid $3 for the entire unit.

  • Just got a GHWT set for free, though it was busted. Going to do this very soon. Thanks for the demonstration. :)

  • @comp1demon do i need the whole drum set for the midi trick with my edrums?

  • I just bought one of these (GH WT Drum Brain) and a dongle from eBay. My plan was to play the drum part on a hand held controller. I am disabled from a back injury and do most of my gaming from a flat laying down position.

The only problem I have now is with the bass drum. Do you happen to know if it's possible to access something that triggers the bass drum from the brain module and create a button for it? I only received the brain with no MIDI connectors or anything. Mapping it to the Dpad..

  • Its removable on the new set

  • @fast4four When he says ION, he means a real ION electric kit, not a drum rocker. You connect the midi out of a real drum brain to the midi in on the controller. I actually did this myself before I saw his video. I am using a roland td-3.
