Walking away from the protesters and approaching the Defend Marriage Rally at the Thompson Center, the shrieking voices fade away as we listen to the vocalist Catherine Lee sing Ave Maria. Dick Walsh serves as master of ceremonies, and introduces Hiram Crawford, Jr. to do the invocation. http://protectmarriageillinois.com/
@hollywood7 Well that's a real shame, now isn't it? Not one religion in the whole wide world, huh? Ah well, they're free to think what they think. As I said, to each his own. You have a nice night.
@LordofBLTs well not exactly. You challenged me on the major religions' definition of "marriage", claiming Taoism does not define it. Well...it looks like it does...so back to the drawing board for you and your arguments! All the major religions of the world do not acknowledge homosexuality, they lump it in with other behaviors that deviate from the norm. And that includes Taoism
@hollywood7 Alright, you win, I'll be open and honest: I never had any intention to deceive you or trick you. I've read through the Tao Te Ching (I mean it isn't that big), I've read through the Hua Hu Ching, I like them, they're pleasant reads. I'm not going to let Taoism dictate my sexuality or who I choose to be with. I think we can both move on, and congratulations, I'm sorry I brought it up in the first place, this was thoroughly counterproductive.
@LordofBLTs well YOU were the one that brought it up, and now you're trying to say you're not one...when you say "I'm not militant about it" well either you are or you aren't. I guess you didn't like the part about man and woman sex in that religion/ideology...because it kind of lays bare what you're saying as a lie.
@hollywood7 Philosophical Taoist, and when it comes down to it, yeah, I consider myself one, but I'm not militant about it and I'm not unwilling to say I disagree with parts of it if I don't feel that those elements are positive or really contribute. Look, I understand that there's the idea of balance in Taoism, that's quite true, and I understand that the idea of a man and a woman together fits within that. I also think it's silly to say that therefore ONLY a man and a woman can be together.
@LordofBLTs That is what you're doing, of course. You were betting I knew nothing about being Taoist. What I do know is it is very humanist in nature...which can very much follow the homosexual ideology which puts humanity in the place of God.
@hollywood7 Funny, I always figured lies were intentional deceptions, whereas incorrect information was unintentional. I assure you I'm quite serious. As for Taoism, I have no allegiance to it any more than it fits as a general outline of my beliefs about the flow of the universe at large, so you see, I use it as a general term to suit my purposes. As far as my behavior is concerned, you may ask whatever you like about it.
@LordofBLTs Oh, but it does...your statements about Taoism not reflecting 6,000+ years of history that show marriage is between a man and a woman are not true. And Taoism is older than some other religions...so I am quite interested in your sophistry and how you justify your behavior...very interested. So please enlighten me so I can counter your lies with what I know to be true.

@LordofBLTs then how much of a Taoist are you and which one are you? C'mon...stop deflecting and redirecting

@hollywood7 I'm not really a humanist. I'm not really much of a theist, either. Oh well! To each his own.
