In the blink of an eye Jean became a paraplegic when the street sweeper he was repairing closed on him suddenly. Fortunately, shortly after his accident, Jean met Brad, a member of the peer support team with the BC Paraplegic Association (BCPA). The BCPA supports people with disabilities in achieving independence and community integration through the development and implementation of a volunteer peer support network. The peer program assist newly injured people like Jean as they move through the rehab process and become integrated into the community.
