@Songsmirth A lot of the things that Sheldon does show kindness without him knowing it. For example, Leonard, Sheldon and Howard were watching a 3D movie but Raj didn't have glasses. When Sheldon started talking on the phone he gave Raj his glasses without a second thought.

There's also the Christmas episode when Sheldon hugged Penny after she gave him a really good gift.

He can be mean sometimes but it's mostly out of ignorance.

Penny:Hey guys.

Howard:Hoooo!!!

(slaps Howard).

There really is a mean streak in Sheldon. Some parts of it are innocent but I wonder how many of his comments are meant just to be mean. Some friend. It's amazing that they even tolerate him and I've always wondered why? Anyone have an opinion on that?
