@huramentzefix better than lower powered unreliable horrible sounding 4 cylinders.

@thiago497150 ...and yet it is one of the most powerful engines in it's class, and I think that per cube, it produces the most hp/ft-lbs

They should have went OHC with cam phasing timing; better on fuel economy, and even better, more power from most parts of the power bandwidth!
And if they went DOHC with independent cam phasing, even more fuel savings and still a tad bit more power too!

@jeepluv76 what does more valves do??? and is it true that 4 deactivation doesnt even matter becuase its still using same amount of fuel? what do they mean by that here?

@shadowhunter45s man im such a newb i feel so lost!! ahah!

8 Cylinders are dead anyways!

Hey I saw this engine once in germany in a historic museum. do people really still drive arround with something like this? Hey I bet the mechanics for this engine are also good at changing horse shoes

to the people who say they cant afford the spark plugs.....i just changed mine with OE plugs and for 16 plugs cost about $35 so don't give me the shit that you cant afford them...and as for the people saying the new HEMI not making near as much power is because in the 60-70's it was a 426ci now the base HEMI is 345ci big difference in cubic inches...now if your talking about the 6.1 you will have somthing to argue about!!

i have a hemi, 04, excellent motor, 0 problems, i do the work myself, modded at over 400hp at the crank, yes ive had it dynoed, ive had my hemi for 3 years and the only thing ive replaced is the transmission. I work on cars all the time and i can tell yall from first hand experience, i have two be friends with chevy silverados, ones a 5.3, the others a 4.8 and those pieces of shit fall apart all the damn time, they got less miles than my hemi and already the cylinders are misfiring...

@peanuts2105 I know... And they still call it the famous american "HEMI" while the rest of the world built engines with hemispherical combustion chanbers long before the americans did! It's funny.
2 valve per cylinder and OHV, 5.7 litres, heavy. Old and dirt engine

yeh i see what your saying..my point is though that instead of something like variable valve timing this cylinder deactivation does not make the activated cylinders more efficient. so its "not heavy" because half the time your driving a 4 cylinder or what i like to call a semi hemi.:P
