Here is a demonstration of a number of sounds generated by the Moog Minimoog. The Minimoog was recorded direct without any effects or equalization.

  • Hmmm....I'm not complaining and I think it's good that you haven't changed the volume levels to make everything level(makes a better demo), but I was thinking for a live scenario if I wanted everything of equal levels say when I change my waves, with low harmonics (triangle) to something rich in harmonics (sawtooth), would throwing a compressor like stomp-box work? So that there was no volume drop between the two" settings" or is that just too dynamic?

  • @Spaghettaboutit I think using a compressor would work. It's one of the sacrifices you have to make for using analog live! Volume is another aspect of synthesis, and if you practice the sounds you're going to use live beforehand, you get a sense of what you're going to need to do when you set up the patch live. That's how I do it! But I tend to be somewhat purist about analog stuff, and you probably don't need to go to that level of effort!

  • Moogs sound and look ridiculous.

  • @bilbring :::sighs::: I know. If only they could sound like infinitely superior synths like the JP-8080.

  • @dzlvs8 Yes.

  • Hmmm, is it necessary to hump the minimoog to achieve the sound you got from 2:45 - 3:10 ???

  • Wow that minimoog is soo cool!

  • @dzlvs8 If Keith Emerson taught us something it's that moogs are naturally made for humping

  • in every video of the minimoog the backgruond is the same! thats misterious

  • @itstherubberduck On the minimoog there is a switch to make the 3rd oscillator an LFO. Just activate it and the frequency range of the oscillator drops.

  • Hi people, i own a creamware MINIMAX ASB (which is a copy of a minimoog). I'm really into synthesis now, but i'm wondering how you make the 3rd oscillator an LFO? I'm pretty sure it's the exact thing on the minimax asb as on a minimoog (considering the different knobs even have the same names! i'd be really happy if someone could help me out

  • can u store ur sound in it or is it a headache 4 each show?

  • @loveislikehydrogen Thank you! I think your YouTube name is fantastic!

  • @loveislikehydrogen "Minimoog Exclusively" by me!

  • exellent!!

  • @metabog I'm pretty sure that Pink Floyd used ARPs on that album, but they may have also used a Mini, especially for the lead sound on Have A Cigar.
