We have the traditional 9-day novena mass, starting on Dec. 16, in preparation for Christmas day. We call it Misa de Aguinaldo or Misa de Gallo. Churches are overflowing with the faithful on these dawn masses which start at usually at 4 a.m.!!

Of course Jesus didn't personally institute a liturgical celebration of his birthday during his earthly life. Usually people do things like this to honor someone else--especially a loved one. We, Christ's Body, the Church, love Jesus so much and are so grateful for the stupendous gift of the Incarnation, that for centuries we have chosen a special day to give particular thanks and praise to God for loving the world that much.

There is no Christmas in the Bible, neither did Jesus ever celebrate Christmas nor his desiples. But thank you for the nice music.
Jesus came as the Messiah. He did not approve man made doctrines. He only accpted the biblical truth and kept everything perfect, according to scriptures. He confronted the Pharisees and the whole religios world and he would also find lots of false doctrin in Chrisianity today.

It seems we are unable to have a conversation about this, given the very different "starting points" we are coming fron in relation to our understanding of Jesus. Still, even if we cannot "convince" one another of our perspective, we can pray for each other.
God bless you.

A God who became man would not scorn anything truly human, not even "man made" forms of honor. but if we believe what St. Paul said, that the Church is the Body of Christ, and Christ is the Head of the Church, then even these "man made" celebrations were established by Christ, who still lives among us. Otherwise, we are treating Jesus as if He is very far away and not really a part of what His Church is doing.

Was Jesus realy born in Dezember?I don´t think so.The shepherds were still on the fields at that time, so not in winter. Are you certain God wants you to celebrate all these man made feasts like Easter Christmas and Sunday services/mass. Luk.23,54-56? Acts 2,1? Hebrews 4,9; Matthew 24,20.Peace be with you and I have writen all these words to you in love, treu love and not to hurt your feelings.1.Korinthians 5,7-8.

What is important is not "December" or "April" or "winter" or "spring," but the eternal Son of the Father becoming human for our sake, being truly born for us and truly dying for us. Give him praise for his humanity, his divinity, his dying and his rising. And rejoice that others do so, even if in ways you do not consider appropriate. Jesus is the center! Jesus is the focus! Jesus is the whole point and purpose of our existence!

At any rate, Christmas isn't really the biggest celebration we have to thank God for the gift of His Son: Easter is.
As history moves on, it can be expected that people will write new songs, compose new poems, and celebrate God's mercy in new ways. This can be the work of the same Holy Spirit who inspired the writing of the Bible, even if those new expressions are not the equivalent of Scripture. If this were not the case, St. Paul would not have had to remind us to "test everything."
