This is a doctor doing house calls, during the Black Plague in Europe. The "beak" is actually a leather "filter" filled with herbs and minerals, believed to ward off the "black death". It worked in that it blocked the inhalation and contact with the bacteria.

@steve5123456789 Yes, of course... if you don't believe me... you should perhaps do more research into the origins of it from Egypt. In ancient Egypt religion was the science of the day, things haven't changed all that much... as this science of today yet has this palpable dogma the same as religion... Might you perhaps wish to step back and observe it from a new perspective to see if you can gain insight into that of which you speak? I suppose you think science can get us out of this mess?
