My Son Is Deaf, Finally!

Four years later after a hearing son of deaf parents was born, the time was right. His parents felt ready to explore the option and made the decision to go ahead with surgery for him in Brazil. Last week, he had his hearing inactivated indefinitely by removing both cochleae from the ears. He became profoundly deaf like his parents. They have been immensely blessed with the choice they made.

Once you reach a certain age, language specific neurons in the brain deteriorate and auditory processing is merely impossible. The lack of experience with articulatory cues and prosody makes processing language difficult and stressful.

Awesome video!!! I have spent the past 6 years learning about the deaf community, I honestly don't agree with cochlear but I do feel it is the persons choice and whatever makes them happy, but to choice make their choice for a child because you feel you want them to fit into your world is wrong. This is a great video and hopefully it changes the ignorance of others.

there are tons of arguments on both sides of CI's. I personally don't agree with them, even though I'm hearing. God made you deaf. I kind of doubt He would want someone to go into your brain and re-wire it just so you can hear a robot-like sound all the time. It's not hearing. Don't get me wrong, modern medicine is INCREDIBLE! The fact that you can take someone who is deaf and make them "hear" is truly amazing. As for me and my beliefs, I don't think changing who God made you is worth it.

I knew it was fake the whole time. Great lesson. I'm saying that as a hearing person. You all need to stop freaking out. His point is it hurts some deaf people when hearing families force their children to hear without their consent. No need to get your knickers in a twist.

OMGHHKP i was so happy at the end. At the beginning i was so sad for the kid cuz he was bieng forced to be deaf then i found out it was a prank i became silent
