My Son is DEAF, Finally!

Four years later after a hearing son of deaf parents was born, the time was right. His parents felt ready to explore the option and made the decision to go ahead with surgery for him in Brazil. Last week, he had his hearing inactivated indefinitely by removing both cochleae from the ears. He became profoundly deaf like his parents. They have been immensely blessed with the choice they made.

The success of CI varies with different situations. Implanting a completely Deaf child at a very young age doesn't help as much as you think it would. The brain can only become WELL adjusted and used to it if it understood sounds before at some point. This is why implanting a person who used to be able to hear fine and becomes deaf one day is much more effective.

So you are only half right. Just don't have the misconception that implanting a Deaf child will eventually make them a hearing person

I disagree with them.. I don't need the cochlear implants at all. I just preferred to use the hearing aids instead use the cochlea implants..One of my friend have one cochlea implants but she have alot headache from.. i dont remember what's it. She just want to make it stop but didn't. She been suffering from it. She really upset with her mom. Her mother didn't know.. I feel bad for her. I'm glad my mom didn't give me the cochlear implants when I was baby.. I thanked my mom so much. :)

Now I see what's your point.. so I can see how hearing people do that to deaf baby to get the cochlear implants. My family did asked me why not get cochlear implants but I refused anyway. I told them y'all should be proud of me to being deaf who I'm. They just want to able talk me more instead use the sign Heck No. I told my family why didnt you go to learn the sign before when I was baby? And um they just look for an excuses. So anyway, they said it's important for me to hear the world..

CI's are generally more effective in toddlers and younger children. This is because speech and hearing is developed most at this stage.

If a Deaf parent would be looked down on for making their child deaf, but a hearing parent is applaused for making their deaf child into hearing, where is this going? There's nthing wrong with being deaf...I'm proud to be deaf...

I stumbled across this.  I'm Deaf myself, and when I realized what was going on, I was soo upset! I was even crying as you were explaining he was going into surgery with his doctors and how he was crying, and then, the pictures. I was saying to myself, "I don't agree with this, if your child is hearing you should accept him for who he is." Then I saw the Dog, and I was like, what the hell? Then yousaid it was a fake, I was soo much relieved, but I do see your point. Cont....
